    Abstract:

Three different enzymes are involved in lignin degration produced by the white rot fungi, they are lignin peroxidases, manganese peroxidases and laccase.Laccase,a member of the blue multi-copper oxidase family, catalyzes the oxidation of a variety of organic substrates coupled to the reduction of molecular oxygen to water. The abilities to degrade lignin by different laccases vary widely, which depend on the structure of laccases, especially the structure of the trinuclear copper site. The structure characteristics, active site and three-dimension structure of fungal laccase weresummarized in this review.
